Dutch outfit RKT Tholen supplied pipes to help with the installation of the five gravity base foundations for EDF Energy Renewables’ 41.5MW Blyth offshore demo project off the Northumberland coast in the UK.
The piping was used to fill the foundations with seawater to submerge the structures.
It can also be used to empty the structures, RKT said.
The Blyth demo will feature five MHI Vestas 8MW turbines and is expected to start generating power by the end of the year.
