Offshore wind farms in Europe generated a record 264 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity yesterday, according to WindEurope data.
Onshore wind projects generated a further 1235GWh on 2 October, the wind industry body said.
In total, wind energy’s share of electricity demand was 18.2% yesterday, WindEurope added.
WindEuope said the combined 1499GWh of electricity generated was enough to power the equivalent of 151 million homes or cover 52% of average industrial demand.
