GeoSea has completed the design and received a notice to proceed with fabrication and installation of 16 foundations and an offshore transformer module for EnBW’s 112MW Albatros offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The DEME Group offshore marine engineering subsidiary is Siemens’ EPCI partner on the project, which will feature Siemens SWT-7.0-154 turbines.
The monopile foundations and transition pieces will be produced by a joint venture of Sif and Smulders.
Sif will produce the monopiles, while the joint venture with Smulders will produce the transition pieces.
Sif will produce the primary steel and Smulders will be responsible for the secondary steel and outfitting of the transition pieces.
GeoSea said fabrication of the foundations is expected to take place this year and next, with offshore installation in 2018.
DEME Group German Subsidiaries general manager Christopher Iwens said: “The Albatros contract gives continuity to our project portfolio in Germany and will be handled by our local project team of experts from our regional offices in Bremen.”
