Bibby Marine Services vessel WaveMaster1 has booked a maiden gig supporting offshore construction work at Innogy’s 336MW Galloper wind farm off the coast of Suffolk.
James Fisher has chartered the service operation vessel for three months initially to facilitate winter commissioning work at the project’s substation and 56 Siemens 6MW turbines.
The walk-to-work vessel will arrive at Galloper in September for the three-month stay, but it’s contract could be extended until the spring.
The details of the WaveMaster1 deal were first reported in the latest subscriber-only edition of reNEWS.
“[The vessel] will allow our workforce to exploit weather windows in higher sea states to access and carry out work on the turbines and the substation,” said Galloper project director Toby Edmonds.
WaveMaster1 will house some 40 technicians for four-week stints offshore, allowing them to access offshore assets in wave heights exceeding two metres, the developer said.
WaveMaster1 will in April sail for a North Sea oil and gas job with Total E&P Nederland.
