Chinese manufacturer Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology has unveiled a 4MW turbine platform for the international wind market.
The GW4S model will be available between 4MW and 4.2MW with rotor diameters up to 136 metres.
It features permanent magnet direct drive technology and has evolved from the company’s 3S platform.
Goldwind said it is targeting international markets, including North America, Australia, South America and Turkey, for the new machine.
Goldwind International chief executive Tony Pan said: “A prototype of the GW4S will be installed during the second quarter of 2018 in China.”
He added that the turbine will be ready for commercial deployment in the first quarter of 2019.
