Heerema Marine Contractors has completed installation of the substation jacket at Dong’s 450MW Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
Crane vessel Hermod tackled the job. HSM Offshore built the structure at its yard in Schiedam in the Netherlands.
The same fabricator is pushing ahead with fabrication of the project’s 2500-tonne topside. Completion is scheduled for end-May 2018. HSM is also responsible for hook-up of the platform.
ST3 Offshore is supplying 20 suction bucket jackets and Steelwind Nordenham is delivering 36 monopiles. Installation will kick off next year.
MHI Vestas 8MW turbines are due to go live in 2019. The Borkum Riffgrund 2 project is located 34km north of Borkum island.
