All five 6MW Siemens Gamesa turbines have been lifted onto floating foundations for the 30MW Hywind Scotland offshore wind demonstration project.
Crane vessel Saipem 7000 carried out the lift work at the port of Stord on the west coast of Norway.
The turbines will be towed and installed at the project site located 25km off the coast of Peterhead in Scotland and are scheduled to come online in the fourth quarter of this year.
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy offshore chief executive Michael Hannibal said: “Siemens Gamesa views the floating wind farm market area the same way as we did with offshore wind farms in the early beginning: it is a very interesting area that is initially a niche market.
“This niche may, however, develop over time into a large market. It is a niche in which we would like to build a strong position for this reason.”
Statoil and Masdar are developing the Hywind Scotland project.
