MHI Vestas is to open an offshore wind blade painting and storage facility at Fawley in Hampshire in the UK.
The company is redeveloping the site of a decommissioned, oil-fired power plant to transform it into the new facility for its 80-metre turbine blades.
MHI Vestas said the new plant will complement its manufacturing unit on the Isle of Wight, where the 80-metre blades are made for the V164 offshore wind turbine.
The Fawley plant is expected to start operations in April 2018 and will create between 30 and 50 jobs.
MHI Vestas chief executive Jens Tommerup said: “This is fantastic news for the industry and for consumers and also a great challenge for us to optimise our operations in every area.
“Our new paint and logistics shop at Fawley will improve our competitiveness worldwide and strengthen our UK industrial footprint.”
