UK outfit Roxtec has designed and supplied cable seals to the 400MW Rampion offshore wind farm off the Sussex coast.
Roxtec UK managing director Clive Sharp (pictured) said the Rampion contract adds to a growing portfolio of work in the offshore renewables market, which includes more than 40 wind farms in Europe.
He said: “This contract involved supplying seals for single-core cables, both high and medium voltage, in the bulkhead and deck areas of the platforms.
“We designed a customised solution, involving trefoil formation cable seals for medium-voltage switchgear and split plates for high-voltage and export cables.”
He added that the company’s engineers also provided training to ensure “effective installation and management of the seals”.
Rampion will consist of 116 MHI Vestas 3.45MW turbines and will deliver first power later in the summer.
Eon, the UK Green Investment Bank and Canadian energy company Enbridge are investors in the wind farm.
