Saipem has been confirmed as the contractor for transport and installation of three substations and a reactive compensation unit at Orsted’s 1.2GW Hornsea 1 offshore wind farm off the UK.
Semi-submersible crane vessel S7000 is expected to tackle the work in summer 2018 some 120km off the coast of Yorkshire, England.
The contract was first reported exclusively in subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS in July.
Both foundations and jackets are included in the two-phase deal.
Saipem 7000 has previously worked in offshore wind for Statoil’s 30MW Hywind Scotland project, where it lifted turbines onto floating spar foundations (pictured).
