Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has cut a combined 740 jobs in Denmark and the US, pinning the move on a desire to reduce costs and remain more competitive.
The company said the layoffs come as it sets ups new facilities in other countries to meet customer requests for local production of wind turbine components.
News of the layoffs comes around four months after Siemens and Gamesa completed their merger.
In Denmark, 730 jobs will be eliminated at the the Aalborg blades plant, with 130 people expected to relocated in the factory.
In the US, around 140 positions will go at the at the Hutchinson nacelle assembly plant.
