Jan De Nul jack-up vessel Vole au Vent today completed turbine installation at Suomen Hyötytuuli’s 42MW Tahkoluoto offshore wind farm off the coast of Finland.
The vessel successfully lifted the project’s 10th Siemens 4.2MW turbine onto its foundations early this morning, wrapping up the job slightly ahead of schedule.
Installation work at Finland’s first commercial offshore wind farm started on 22 May, when Vole au Vent began putting in the first of the project’s 10 gravity-based foundations.
First power at the €120m project is expected to be exported to the grid later this week, while commissioning work will continue until later this year.
Tahkoluoto is the first commercial offshore wind farm to be optimised for arctic ice conditions.
