The US Trade and Development Agency (USSTDA) has awarded a grant to Vietnamese outfit Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 2 (PECC2) to support development of the 100MW Tan Thuan offshore wind farm in southern Vietnam.
The project will be built in two stages – a 24MW first phase, followed by a 76MW second development – nearshore off Ca Mau province.
DNV GL has been selected by PECC2 to carry out project design and a feasibility study.
USTDA country manager David Ross said: “USTDA is pleased to support this project which will help capitalise on southern Vietnam’s strong wind resources and support the country’s prioritisation of renewable energy.
“This project represents an excellent opportunity for US businesses to export technologies and services in support of Vietnam’s renewable energy goals.”
