Vroon Offshore Services’ VOS Prime platform supply vessel has deployed an Ampelmann A-type gangway system to provide walk-to-work capabilities on the offshore substations at the 600MW Gemini offshore wind farm off the coast of the Netherlands.
The company said the vessel, which has SPS notation for 52 persons on board, has provided the service since the end of June.
Vroon said together with the help of Ampelmann’s engineering teams the gangway’s positioning allows for ?weather-window’ performance combined with clear-deck space of about 550 square metres for carrying cargo.
Weather-window performance refers to maximum limit of combined environmental forces, such as wind and sea state, that passenger transfers can be safely performed, Vroon said.
