Canadian outfit Veresen has completed the 40MW Grand Valley 3 wind project, “ahead of time and on budget,” said the company.
Balance of plant contractor RES Canada Construction installed 16 Siemens SWT-3.2MW-113 turbines at the Dufferin County site in southwest Ontario. The German manufacturer supplied blades from its Tillsonburg plant and towers from the CS Wind factory in Windsor.
A 34.5kV underground collector system transports the electricity generated to a 34.5/230kV transformer station and the Hydro One Networks transmission system.
The expansion scheme was placed into operation on 3 December. The output is sold to the provincial Independent Electricity System Operator under a 20-year feed-in tariff power purchase agreement.
Calgary-headquartered Veresen, a diversified energy company, has a 75% interest in the wind farm.
