Spanish outfit GRI Renewable Industries has formed a joint venture with Metalurgia Calviño to manufacture wind turbine towers in Argentina from the second half of 2017.
The tower facility will be located in existing industrial plants owned by Metalurgia Calviño at Florencio Varela in Buenos Aires.
It will aim to supply 300 turbine towers a year for the Argentinian market and is expected to create 350 jobs.
The two companies said they are finalising matters related to technical, financial and legal aspects of the deal.
GRI chief executive Javier Imaz said: “The alliance between GRI and Calviño will guarantee the supply of wind towers manufactured in Argentina, with the highest international manufacturing quality standards and just-in-time delivery.”
