Onshore wind in Northern Ireland has passed the 1GW installed capacity mark, according to new figures from NI Electricity Networks.
Some 1029MW is now feeding the grid from large-scale projects.
Between April 2016 and March 2017, onshore wind generated 22.4% of all Northern Ireland’s electricity.
RenewableUK said the build out of projects this year alone represents £127.5m of local investment.
Northern Ireland Renewables Industry Group chair Rachel Anderson said onshore wind is a “success story” for the country.
“Onshore wind remains one of the vital growth areas to our modern low-carbon economy, so we need to ensure that politicians here join us in securing a bright future for this technology.”
