France installed 492.35MW of new wind power capacity in the first half of 2017, down 13% on the same period last year, according industry body France Energie Eolienne (FEE).
FEE said uncertainty over an economic framework for onshore wind in the country was the main reason for the decline.
FEE president Olivier Perot said: “These uncertainties have prompted wind professionals to be cautious, waiting for a coherent and stable framework.”
However, the organisation added that the addition of almost 500MW in the first half of the year means the “development of wind power remained dynamic despite an unstable regulatory and economic environment”.
