German turbine manufacturer Senvion is targeting expansion in the Australian onshore wind market to offset potential downturns in other countries, according to its chief executive Jürgen Geissinger.
Senvion’s pipeline in Australia includes the supply of 84 3.6M140 machines to developer Nexif energy for projects in New South Wales and South Australia.
The German manufacturer is also developing a new 3.7MW turbine for RES Australia’s 429MW Murra Warra wind farm in Victoria.
“Australia will account for around 40 percent of all new market onshore revenues by 2019,” said Geissinger.
Geissinger said the Australian order-book would help offset weaknesses in the Indian market, where high interest costs and problems with land and extraction permits have hampered the company’s growth.
Senvion already has 440MW of onshore turbines operational in Australia, it said.
