Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy is to supply turbines totalling 10.2MW to Innogy’s Dromadda Beg wind farm in County Kerry in south-west Ireland.
The contract, which was first announced in the subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS, is for the delivery and installation of three SWT 3.4-101 machines on 94-metre towers.
Installation is expected to start in mid-2018.
Siemens Gamesa said the project will be the first time that technologies from the former Siemens and Gamesa companies have been blended together since the merger.
Dromadda Beg will be Innogy’s first onshore project in Ireland. The company said it has recently added four new members to its Irish team and plans more hires.
Innogy Renewables Ireland managing director Cathal Hennessy said: “We plan to grow our onshore wind business to include greenfield developments and consented sites right through to the acquisition of operational wind farms.”
