Wood Group’s clean energy business has worked with Romax Technologies to improve the performance of EDF Energies Nouvelles’ 67.5MW La Mata y La Ventosa wind farm in Oaxaca, Mexico.
High turbulence and wind speeds had resulted in some turbines at the wind farm, which consists of 27 Clipper C89 machines, to be run at reduced power.
Wood Group and Romax analysis led to the introduction of an automatic derating system at the wind farm.
A power feedback loop was also introduced to deal with overproduction issues, Wood Group said.
Wood Group control engineer Charlie Plumley said: “We are pleased that we were able to provide EDF EN Mexico with a non-intrusive, value-for-money solution that was quick to roll-out at La Mata y La Ventosa wind farm.”
