Enel expects to deliver 7.8GW of new renewables capacity over the next three years, according to its strategic plan for the 2018–2020 period.
The Italian energy giant said the growth will be driven by capital expenditure (capex) of €8.3bn in the sector over the three years.
Renewables are expected to help drive 40% capex growth in North and Central America and 35% in Iberia.
However, capex in South America is projected to fall by 26% in the period mainly in renewables, the company said.
Meanwhile, Enel Green Power has started construction of the 8MW Estrella solar plant in Panama.
The project will supply 12 gigawatt hours of electricity year to Nestlé offices in Jaguito when completed in June next year.
