German turbine manufacturer Enercon has opened an office in Taiwan to serve as a base for the Asia-Pacific region.
The facility in the island’s capital Taipei will host the sales, project and logistics management, purchasing and service departments.
Enercon currently employs 10 staff in Taiwan with the number set to grow to around 30 in the next few years. It also has 70 service technicians across the Asia-Pacific region.
“Coordination between departments in different time zones is no longer an issue and the central geographical location of Taiwan means the various countries in the region can be reached quickly,” the company said.
Enercon has been active on the Chinese island since 2001 and has installed more than 217 turbines with a total capacity of over 440MW.
