German company Raycap has upgraded its Strikesorb technology, which helps protect wind turbines from lightning surges.
Strikesorb 30 has been upgraded to an International Electroctechnical Commission class I surge protection device from class II and is capable of withstanding multiple lightning surges, Raycap said.
It offers additional installation flexibility for turbines experiencing both direct and indirect lightning currents, the company added.
Raycap vice president of research and development Zafiris Politis said: “Our Strikesorb products have the ability to be installed in locations with very high short circuit current conditions without failure or degradation, all the while continuously and safely protecting mission-critical electrical equipment from damage caused by lightning surges.”
