Canyon Offshore will provide cable trenching services for the 1.4GW North Sea interconnector between the UK and Norway.
The contract has been awarded by Prysmian PowerLink, which is manufacturing and installing two parallel cables for the UK’s National Grid and Norway’s Statnett between Blyth in England and Kvilldal in Norway.
Canyon Offshore’s work will involve trenching approximately 900km for the two cables over four annual campaigns starting in 2018.
The project will be the first interconnector between the two countries.
Canyon Offshore director for commercial and sales Euan Roberts said: “This is our first contract with Prysmian and we are proud to have been selected for such a prestigious and historical project.”
