Wartsila Corp subsidiary American Hydro is to upgrade the 25.2MW Mollejon hydro plant on the Macal River in Belize.
The contract, which was awarded by the Belize Electric Company, covers overhaul the project’s G1 unit and replace old turbine components, such as turbine seals and runners and wicket gates.
Installation and commissioning of the G1 unit is set to be completed in June 2018.
American Hydro project manager for Mollejon Alan Maciejewski said: “Mollejon provides American Hydro the opportunity to showcase our capabilities and expertise with the upgrade and optimization of existing hydroelectric equipment.”
