Duke Energy is eyeing a 2016 solar treble after unveiling plans for the 6MW Woodleaf project in North Carolina.
The Charlotte-based renewables developer said today it has filed plans for the Rowan County project with the North Carolina Utilities Commission.
Woodleaf will occupy around 50 acres and, if approved, will enter construction in quarter 2 this year ahead of a commissioning before year end.
Duke has already filed plans for the projects which are also in North Carolina.
The company said it will complete 141MW of separate solar projects shortly.
Duke’s senior vice president Rob Caldwell said: “We see 2016 shaping up to be active year for Duke Energy-owned solar projects.
“Our customers want us to actively pursue renewable energy, and we are delivering on that desire.”
