Enel Green Power España has been awarded 339MW of solar capacity in Spain’s latest renewable energy tender.
The company said it will invest approximately €270m to build the plants, which will be located in the regions of Murcia and Bajadoz.
The projects are expected to be online by 2019 and will sell electricity in the Spanish power pool.
The Spanish government will also provide yearly capacity payments to guarantee a steady return over the 25 years of the facilities’ lifetime, Enel said.
The new award adds to the 540MW of wind power capacity that Enel was awarded in May in the southern European country.
Enel head of global renewable energies Antonio Cammisecra said: “This new milestone confirms our commitment to green energy in Spain, a country which continues to offer growth opportunities for our renewable projects.
“Together with the wind capacity awarded in May, this 339 MW of solar capacity will bolster our renewable footprint in Spain, while also contributing to the country’s push to achieve its green energy goal.”
