IKEA is powering its new Burbank store in California with a rooftop solar array.
The company owns the array, which features 1872 panels producing about 1,033,000 kilowatt hours of electricity a year for the facility (pictured).
REC Solar supplied the panels, while VCC Construction built the shop.
IKEA has now installed more than 700,000 solar panels on buildings across the world and owns approximately 300 wind turbines, including 104 in the US.
IKEA Burbank store manager Jeff O’Shaughnessy said: “IKEA strives to create a sustainable life for communities where we operate, and the new IKEA Burbank is furthering this goal with a solar array nearly three times the size of the one atop our old store.”
