Chilean energy company Colbún is planning to build a 607MW wind farm in the South American country.
Colbún said it was awarded the rights to develop the Horizonte project in a government tender.
The project, which will be located 70km north-east of Taltal in the Antofagasta region, will cover an area of 8000 hectares.
Colbún general manager Thomas Keller said the project is in line with its strategy to add wind capacity to its generation portfolio, which currently includes thermal and hydro power.
The terms of the concession gives Colbún up to 48 months to study the development, followed by a three-year construction period.
