Dutch fabricator Sif Netherlands and Taiwanese company Century Wind Power have signed a letter of intent to investigate opportunities in the offshore wind sector in Taiwan.
The two companies said they will consider forming a joint venture to deliver monopile foundations and transition pieces for the Taiwanese market.
Foundations and transition pieces will be fabricated in the Netherlands and assembled and coated in Taiwan “until the Taiwanese market demonstrates a structural demand for offshore wind monopile foundations”, the companies said.
Taiwan plans to install 3GW of offshore wind capacity by 2025, they added.
