Enel Green Power has kicked off construction of its 132MW Wayra wind farm in Peru
The developer said the project in the Ica region will be the country’s largest onshore wind farm once completed.
Enel will invest around US$165m in the site that will be commissioned in the first half of 2018.
A total of 42 3MW turbines will feature, although Enel did not specify the make and model.
Wayra is supported by a 20-year electricity supply contract signed with the country’s energy ministry, Enel said.
The company was awarded 326MW of capacity in a renewables tender last year and expects to complete much of it in 2018.
