Mainstream Renewable Power has signed 175 power purchase agreements associated with a 1GW wind farm development pipeline in Chile.
PPAs were signed with various utilities, including CGE, Chilquinta, Enel and Saesa, it said.
The $1.6bn portfolio, located in the regions of Antofagasta, Biobío, Los Ríos and Los Lagos, is expected to come on line in 2021 and 2022.
Mainstream was a key participant in Chile’s 2016 electricity tender, having secured support for generation totalling 3366GWh/year.
Head of Chilean operations Bart Doyle said the company has an additional 1GW of wind and solar projects on the drawing board there.
“We have a long term plan for this country,” Doyle said.
