The deadline for a final planning decision on ScottishPower Renewables’ 1.2GW East Anglia 3 offshore wind farm off the Suffolk coast has been extended.
BEIS under secretary Richard Harrington said the new deadline for the assessment is now 8 August.
Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Greg Clark had been due to announce his decision on Wednesday.
No official reason for the extension has been given, although it is understood the decision has been knocked back due to the general election.
The Planning Inspectorate sent its recommendations on the project to Clark on 28 March, giving him three months to make a decision under planning rules.
SPR’s proposed East Anglia 3 features up to 172 turbines in an area of 305 square km in the northern portion of the EA zone.
The developer is currently working on the zone’s 714MW first phase, which will feature Siemens 7MW turbines to be installed in 2019.
