Marine specialist DEME has paired up with robotics company Airobot to explore the potential for drone inspection at offshore wind farms.
The Belgian duo will work together to find ways of using drones to inspect turbine foundations for signs of corrosion.
Foundation inspections are currently carried out manually using rope teams, which brings problems with safety and efficiency, the companies said.
“The know how and expertise of the Airobot team can help us introduce drones in our operations,” said Lorentz Lievens, head of DEME’s survey department.
