Wind power was the largest source of electricity in the UK this morning, according to the National Grid.
National Grid said that at 8am today wind energy supplied 25.8% of the country’s electricity, ahead of nuclear at 24.4% and natural gas at 23.5%.
Imported electricity provided a further 8.9%, solar 7.3% and biomass 5.9%, National Grid said.
Coal power provided only 2% of the country’s electricity at 8am, it added.
