Vancouver developer Zero Emission Energy Developments (ZED) is nearing the finish line at a pair of 15MW wind farms in British Columbia’s Okanagan region.
Construction is complete and final testing is underway at the Shinish Creek and Pennask projects.
Contracting joint venture Amec Foster Wheeler Black & McDonald oversaw installation of five Senvion 3.2MW turbines at each location.
The two projects share a collector line and tie into the BC Hydro electricity grid at the Pennask site, about 44km west of Kelowna.
The utility signed 40-year energy purchase agreements (EPAs) under the province’s standing offer program for clean energy projects up to 15MW.
Canadian private equity firm InstarAGF Asset Management provided the financing and holds a majority stake in the projects.
A third wind farm, 15MW Septimus Creek, has also been awarded a long-term EPA.
