Esvagt has added unmanned aerial vehicle or drone inspection to its list of offshore wind farm services.
The Danish shipping company said its Esvagt Champion vessel recently assisted AtSite with the drone inspection of turbine blades and towers at the 400MW Bard Offshore 1 wind farm in the German North Sea.
AtSite specialises in inspection, analysis and database solutions for blades and main components for wind turbines, Esvagt said.
Using a vessel as central base for the drone inspections, a wind farm can be quickly, safely and efficiently inspected, it added.
