Senvion has confirmed it will supply turbines to Beleolico for the 30MW Taranto offshore wind farm off the coast of southern Italy.
The deal, first reported in subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS in March, comprises delivery and installation of 10 new 3.0M122 offshore machines, each with a hub height of 100 metres.
The turbines will be located in front of Taranto harbour in the Apulia region of the country in water depths of four to 18 metres, Senvion said.
Delivery is currently planned for summer 2018, while commissioning is expected to take place in autumn of that year.
Senvion will also provide a 25-year full maintenance service contract for the wind farm.
Senvion Italia managing director Carlo Schiapparelli said: “We thank Belenergia for the trust in our technology for this project, which further strengthens Senvion’s relationship with Italy and the Apulia region in particular.
“With the very specific requirements on the turbines, Senvion combined its offshore experience and its onshore expertise on the 3.XM machine to provide the ideal turbine for the Mediterranean Sea.”
