Siemens Wind Power will for the first time offer an “extended scope” contract for EnBW’s 497MW Hohe See offshore wind farm, including provision of both turbines and foundations.
The 71 SWT-154 7MW turbines will be manufactured at Siemens’ new nacelle plant in Cuxhaven starting in mid-2018 and will be shipped to the project harbour in early 2019.
The blades will be transported from factories in Hull in the UK and Aalborg in Denmark, Siemens said.
The project’s monopiles will be up to 80 metres in length and weigh up to 1500 tonnes, the company added.
DEME Group subsidiary GeoSea will deliver the monopiles and transition pieces.
“With its extended scope Siemens helped to mitigate risk-exposure to the investors significantly,” the German company said.
Siemens will also carry out service and maintenance of the turbines for five years.
Siemens Wind Power offshore chief executive Michael Hannibal said: “The extended scope makes this 497MW wind power plant one of the largest projects that we have ever executed.”
