Taipower and Taiwan International Ports Corp have signed an agreement to develop a hub at Taichung for the offshore wind sector in Taiwan.
The 12.8-hectare facility will be used for handling, manufacturing, assembling and storing wind turbine components, as well as future operations and maintenance.
Taipower has invested TW$3bn (€85m) to lease the site, which it estimates could be used to assemble 30 to 40 wind turbines each year.
It also plans to sub-lease the site for use by other wind farm developers.
