Vroon Offshore Services latest service operations vessel VOS Start has departed Damen Shiprepair in Amsterdam having completed mobilisation ahead of work at Dong Energy’s 660MW Walney 3 offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea.
The 80-metre walk-to-work vessel has been fitted with a Barge Master and Bosch Rexroth motion-compensated gangway system, a Kongsberg reference system and an active heave-compensated crane from SMST.
Other fittings includes two boat landing ladders fabricated by Niron Staal Amsterdam and a lightweight taut wire, radius and a hipap position reference system manufactured by Kongsberg.
Damen Shiprepair Oranjewerf commercial manager Jeen van der Werf said: “Detailed planning prior to the vessel’s arrival ensured that no time was wasted and everyone worked efficiently and effectively.
“Double shifts were worked when needed and on occasions activity continued around the clock to ensure that progress remained on schedule.”
MHI Vestas has chartered the vessel to provide accommodation, support and walk-to-work services during installation of 40 of its 8MW turbines at Walney 3.
