Enercon is developing two new turbines for its 3MW platform designed for low and medium wind sites.
The 3.5MW E-126 EP3 will have a rotor diameter of 127 metres and will be targeted for medium wind conditions, while the 3.5MW E-138 EP3 will have a 138-metre rotor diameter for low wind sites.
The turbines will be available with a choice of hybrid or tubular steel towers with hub heights of 81 and 160 metres, Enercon said.
The company said a prototype E-126 EP3 could be installed by the third quarter of next year, with an E-138 EP3 prototype to follow in the fourth quarter of that year.
Enercon added that full production is scheduled for 2019.
