Vestas is to repower Imwind’s Tauern wind farm in Austria, raising capacity to 31.05MW from 22.75MW previously.
The Danish manufacturer will supply nine V112-3.45MW machines to replace the 12 V66-1750kW turbines currently installed at the site in Niedere Tauern mountain massif in Styria.
The project is 1900 metres above sea level and the new turbines will be built on site-specific towers with 106-metre hub heights.
Vestas Central Europe president Nils de Baar said: “ImWind gets technology that meets specific requirements with regard to load, turbulence and weight for a wind park located at a height of 1900 metres.
“The team has done a great job in tailoring the technology and towers for the beautiful, yet demanding environment of the site.”
