National Grid has confirmed bidding for the UK’s second Contract for Difference auction will open on 14 August after Ofgem concluded the qualification appeals process.
Qualifying applicants will be invited to submit sealed bids between 14 and 18 August following which National Grid will run an independently audited auction.
“We have today advised BEIS that the value of the qualifying applicants exceeds the budget and of our intention to run an auction,” the delivery body said in a statement.
It is anticipated the results of the £290m auction for so-called Pot 2 projects will be sent to applicants on 11 September, it added.
Contracts for renewables projects to be delivered in either 2021-22 or 2022-23 are due to be signed and returned to National Grid by 9 October.
