Saudi Arabia has received eight bids so far for the 300MW Sakaka solar project, which is to be built in the Middle Eastern country.
The country’s Renewable Energy Project Development Office (REPDO) said bidding companies will be shortlisted by 28 November, with the winner to be announced on 27 January next year.
The project will be backed by a 25-year power purchase agreement and is expected to be commissioned in 2019.
“The opening of bids revealed the commercial potential for the first competitively tendered utility-scale solar project in the Kingdom,” REPDO said.
