TotalEnergies, Aljomaih win 400MW Saudi solar deal

TotalEnergies reaches 1.5GW PPA milestone

A consortium of TotalEnergies and Aljomaih Energy & Water has been awarded a contract by the Saudi Power Procurement Company to develop, build and operate a 400MW solar power plant in As Sufun, Saudi Arabia.

The electricity will be sold to SPPC under a 25-year power purchase agreement, with grid connection scheduled for 2027. The project will generate enough power for more than 68,400 homes.

As Sufun forms part of Round 6 of the National Renewable Energy Program, which aims to increase renewable energy and storage capacity to up to 50% of total generation by 2030 in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

“Together with our partner Aljomaih Energy and Water Co, we are thrilled to contribute to Saudi Arabia’s target of increasing the share of renewables in its energy mix,” said Olivier Jouny, senior vice president renewables at TotalEnergies.

“This project marks the second success for our consortium in the Saudi National Renewable Energy Program,” said Jouny.

“We are proud to lead the development of the 400MW As Sufun Solar PV Project in partnership with TotalEnergies,” said Ibrahim Aljomaih, chairman of Aljomaih Energy and Water.

“This milestone reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting the Saudi Green Initiative and advancing the goals of Saudi Vision 2030,” said Aljomaih.

Acting chief executive Adnan Buhuligah said the project in Hail region will supply clean energy to more than 68,400 households, reinforcing the company’s role in achieving the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 sustainability goals.

TotalEnergies currently operates the 119MW Wadi Al Dawasir solar plant and is constructing the 300MW Rabigh 2 project in Saudi Arabia.
