Orlen Group and Northland Power have signed reservation agreements with a raft of key contractors to deliver the 1200MW Baltic Power offshore wind project off the coast of Poland.
The developers have lined up German steel specialist Steelwind Nordenham to supply monopiles.
The tubulars will be up to 120 metres in length.
Belgian fabricator Smulders will deliver the associated transition pieces.
Van Oord has been meanwhile contracted to transport and install the foundations, according to Orlen.
Elsewhere, a consortium of Bladt Industries and Semco Maritime will be responsible for the design, production and installation of offshore substations.
The wind farm is to feature 70 turbines, each rated at 14MW, the developers added.
Construction is to start in 2024 and the project is due online in 2026.
“Acquiring such important contracts is a milestone for the Baltic Power project,” said Christian Voelcker, acting Vice President for the construction of offshore structures Northland Power.
“Based on the experience from the so far implemented offshore wind farm projects in Germany and other parts of Europe, we know that Baltic Power will play an important role in the process of transforming Poland towards clean energy production.
“It is a great opportunity for Northland to strengthen our commitment to the European offshore market in cooperation with PKN Orlen and to support the creation of an offshore wind energy hub in the Baltic Sea.
“We are waiting for further development and further successes of the project.”
