Energy department BEIS is seeking views on potential changes to the Contracts for Difference (CfD) Allocation Round 6 and on longer term considerations for future allocation rounds.
It has asked for feedback on a number of proposed alterations for the annual auction round that are currently being considered by the UK government.
This includes a proposal to make electricity supplied by private wire to offshore oil and gas facilities ineligible for CfD payments in AR6, which will take place in 2024.
BEIS is also seeking feedback about whether the definition of floating offshore wind should be amended for future rounds and if offshore wind farms that are connected to a multi-purpose interconnector should be eligible to apply for a CfD.
It has asked respondents whether the current phasing policy, whereby projects within the same Crown Estate lease area can be built in up to three phases, should be retained for fixed-bottom offshore wind projects for future rounds.
The consultation also asks if the current CfD appeals process is appropriate and in line with annual auctions and if the CfD scheme itself would be useful for supporting repowered projects.
BEIS has also published updates on several policy areas that it said may be of interest to stakeholders.
