The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) has approved the feasibility study report for European Energy’s 240MW Jammerland Bay Kystnær offshore wind farm, which consists of an environmental impact report.
The offshore wind farm includes the establishment of 16 – 21 wind turbines in Jammerland Bay within an area of approx. 31 km2, located 6-8 km from the coast.
The total project area for the marine part is approx. 34.5 km2 and also includes a cable corridor for bringing power cables ashore of approx. 3.5 km2.
The production from the wind turbines will be able to cover the electricity consumption of 240,000 Danish households.
The onshore project includes a cable corridor for onshore cables, which stretches from the landing site on the coast to the south to a transformer station that is planned to be established onshore at Equinor’s refinery and further north to the line field at Asnæsværket.
The approval gives the developer the opportunity to proceed to the next steps in the application process, including applying for an establishment permit.
DEA only takes a final decision on whether an establishment permit can be granted for the project, once a public hearing has been carried out on the environmental impact report, on the developer’s application for establishment permit and on the draft establishment permit.
If the developer chooses to apply for an establishment permit, the application for establishment permit, the approved environmental impact report with relevant annexes, a draft of the Danish Energy Agency’s establishment decision, a draft of the Danish Environmental Protection Agency’s §25 permit for the land part of the project must be sent for eight weeks of public consultation.
If applicable, the hearing is expected to start immediately before Easter 2024.
